mediterranean odyssey
the route
Island-& Resort hopping the Mediterraneanfrom west to east and onto Montenegro
Route Overview
To say this voyage is a unique is an understatement. Unless you own your own yacht, the opportunity to island hop and explore a big part of the northern Mediterranean on an extended cruise is very rare.
The nature of this voyage means that although we have a start and finishing point, we won't have a set itinerary. There will be a guide as to where we intend to visit and a timeframe to follow but the nature of sailing and the weather conditions will dictate our day to day and week to week route.
We are Destination Unknown by name and in nature. Guests will need to build in a degree of flexibility to their travels plans to and from the yacht. This is the nature of sailing and cruising.
We will have a number of key stopovers along the way with easy ferry and airport connections to enable guests to join or depart the yacht. Timing is not expected to change, but can shift depending on weather, wind or other unforeseen delays.
French Riviera
It's fair to say, there won't be another charter yacht in the Med capable of offering guests the same experience as when onboard DESTINATION UNKNOWN in 2026. The adventure onboard will commence in the world renown St.Tropez in late July, 2026.
The French Riviera is a glamorous Mediterranean coastline in southern France, known for its stunning scenery, celebrity status, and vibrant culture. It features sunny beaches, turquoise waters, and charming hilltop villages, attracting tourists with its blend of natural beauty, art, and nightlife. Key highlights include the cities of Nice, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez, and it's also a major hub for luxury yachting
Our starting point will be relatively close to Nice which is serviced by an international airport with flights from major European cities.
Corsica
Rising boldly from the sparkling Mediterranean like a seafarer’s stronghold, Corsica beckons from afar — a rugged, enchanting isle with the character of a miniature continent. For those arriving by sail, the island unveils a coastline of breathtaking contrasts: from sheltered, crystalline bays perfect for anchoring, to lively port towns, golden beaches, and hidden coves accessible only by boat. Within sight of the sea, dramatic mountain ridges soar inland, giving way to pine-clad valleys and villages perched like sentinels above the coast. A sailing voyage around Corsica offers endless discovery — whether you're dropping anchor to snorkel in turquoise waters, exploring seaside towns rich in history, or tasting local delicacies under the stars. From quiet moorings to adventurous shore excursions, Corsica is a sailor’s dream — wild, varied, and unforgettable.
Sardinia
The best way to arrive in Sardinia’s historic capital is by sea, on board Destination Unknown, the city rising in a helter-skelter of golden-hued palazzi, domes and facades up to the rocky centrepiece, Il Castello. Although Tunisia is closer than Rome, Cagliari is the most Italian of Sardinia’s cities. Vespas buzz down tree-fringed boulevards and locals hang out at busy cafes tucked under arcades in the seafront Marina district.
Beautiful anchorages and enchanting coastal villages will be high on the agenda. We are free to make our plans daily and go where the wind and inclination takes us.
The Amalfi Coast
Deemed an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape by Unesco, the Amalfi Coast is one of Italy's most memorable destinations. Here, mountains plunge into the sea in a nail-biting vertical scene of precipitous crags, cliff-clinging abodes and verdant woodland.
Captain Nic knows the French and Italian Rivieras particularly well; having sailed this area extensively and will take you to some of the lesser known gems
There are countless beautiful beaches and quiet, hidden anchorages to enjoy. We will mix up our days with overnight stops at various ancient town quays to enjoy the local cuisine and atmosphere. The best of both worlds.
montenegro
The Bay of Kotor is a very special end point for our epic voyage and the location of Destination Unknown’s home port, the world-class Porto Montenegro
We'll spend a few days exploring this magical place, including a visit berthed just outside the World Heritage listed old fortress town of Kotor.
Your Captain knows the Bay of Kotor well and will delight in taking you to a few hidden gems that only local knowledge will reveal.
Who knows, maybe we will have time for a little sojourn, 'up the road' to Croatia......?
